Each year, dozens of students present their own research at the annual Psi Chi research conference and the campus-wide Student Research Conference. |
Psychology majors may apply to graduate with departmental honors in psychology. Requirements for departmental honors are as follows.
Cumulative GPA of 3.5
Psychology Major GPA of 3.75
Receive an A in Senior Capstone Course (Psychological Research)
80th National Percentile or above on the senior exit test in psychology (currently MFT)
Publication of a peer-reviewed journal article
Presentation of at least one (non-capstone) research project at the Student Research Conference
Presentation of research at a conference off-campus
Serve as an officer of Psi Chi or Psychology Club
Serve on a student panel or otherwise asist at a Prospective Student Visit Day or Majors Day
Serve as Webmaster for the psychology department
Serve as Labmaster for a psychology professor
Serve as a member of the Psychology Student Advisory Council
Students will complete an application for department honors, to be submitted to our Departmental Honors Coordinator (currently Dr. Terry Palmer). The full list of potential recipients will be shared with the psychology department faculty for their approval.
